Vale of York and Selby
The Vale of York
The Vale of York is a largely rural area across the middle of the County making it easily accessible, close to the A1(M) and easily commutable from York and Harrogate. Several Secondary schools serve the area and many Primaries large and small. A majority of the Secondary schools host small Sixth Forms and there are early signs of collaborative working across some of these schools for post 16 provision providing career development and diversity for teachers.
Selby is a small town to the South of the County that faces economic challenges due to changing industry. The town is well served with transport networks; being on the main train line to London and close proximity the A1(M) and the Cities of Leeds and York. Six Secondary schools serve the town and surrounding area, each with different needs and priorities. Some of the schools closer to the town are working hard to raise educational attainment and require teachers with the drive and aspiration to improve achievement levels and become a beacon for improvement in their subject area.
